are available for German Students. The German Society of Maryland is again offering cash awards and scholarships to high school and college students of German. The Society donates $5,000.00 each year to high school students of German who score above the 85% on the AATG National German Exam. The money is divided among the students with the high scores and presented at an awards ceremony in May at the Zion Church in Baltimore.
For the second year the German Society is paying for a high school student to study in Germany with the AATG Summer Program. This student must be nominated by a member of the German Society. Last year this award was won by Leah Dignan of Fallston High School.
Another German Society program provides up to 4 awards of $800.00 each to outstanding students at Maryland colleges and universities who have declared a German major. The Baltimore Kickers Club provides two additional awards of $800.00 to German majors at Maryland universities. More information about these awards, and the applications, can be found on the German Society website: http://www.germansociety-md.com/
